Oak Furnitureland Opens First US Retail Location at Wayside in Burlington, MA

BOSTON (January 30, 2019)—Wilder, the national retail real estate development, management and leasing firm, is pleased to announce that Oak Furnitureland, the UK’s largest retailer of solid hardwood furniture, has opened its first US store at Wayside in Burlington, Massachusetts.

In choosing a location for its first US retail store, Oak Furnitureland leaders selected Greater Boston, in part, due to the demonstrated popularity of the brand online in Massachusetts.

Wayside was selected for its proximity to Boston, high foot traffic, and complementary retailers. In focus groups, the UK company offered customers three locations around the region, and the Burlington location earned over 75 percent of the vote in each group.

By cutting out the middleman, Oak Furnitureland is able to offer authentic hardwood furniture at affordable prices while maintaining credible timber sourcing.

Covering 16,465 square feet, the store will feature an airy, spacious layout marked by cohesive room-sets. The store will showcase the brand’s distinctive hardwood furniture made from 100 percent solid hardwood – never particle board or veneer. With the retail store, customers can now examine the furniture firsthand, noting that even hidden elements like backs and bases are made from solid hardwood.

“Our customers overwhelmingly chose Burlington, MA for the first US store and Wayside is the perfect fit for our brand,” said Alex Fisher, chief executive office at Oak Furnitureland. “With its easy accessibility and high quality of service it was an easy choice.”

“Oak Furnitureland started in the UK in 2006 and began offering online furniture sales to the US market in 2016 so this is a positive next step in their strategic expansion,” said Deb Di Meo. Vice President, Leasing at Wilder. “With 100 showrooms across the UK we are thrilled to work with Oak Furnitureland to open their first stateside brick and mortar location. Now, along with our already popular mix of restaurants, fashion tenants, and more, Wayside is home to three iconic furniture stores to serve our Boston area shopper.”
